NMC rules require private colleges to pay residents the state government rate. Does your college?

The NMC's stipend rules require every medical college in India — government, private and deemed — to pay interns and resident doctors a stipend equivalent to what state government medical colleges in the same state pay.

That is the rule. The lived reality reported by residents in several private and deemed institutions is different: stipends far below the state rate, stipends paid late, stipends returned in cash after being shown as paid, or no stipend at all.

This is a case where the assembly can do something a single complaint cannot: establish the scale.
